Wilson’s Orchard & Farm is looking for a dependable, outgoing person to run our booth at the Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ Market on Saturdays. This position is a great fit for a college student or anyone looking for a consistent part-time role who enjoys working independently, meeting new people, and representing a local business.What You’ll DoYou’ll be responsible for preparing, transporting, setting up, operating, and packing down the Wilson’s Orchard & Farm market booth at the Downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market on Court Ave.Responsibilities include:
- Loading products, supplies, and booth materials into your vehicle on Friday afternoon
- Driving yourself and all booth materials to the Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ Market
- Arriving early on Saturday mornings, with the day typically beginning around 5:30 a.m.
- Setting up the booth and making sure it is organized and ready for customers
- Greeting customers and creating a friendly, welcoming experience
- Learning about our products and confidently answering customer questions
- Preparing and maintaining product samples throughout the market
- Operating the point-of-sale system and accurately handling transactions
- Keeping the booth clean, organized, and well-stocked
- Breaking down the booth, putting away boxes and supplies, and making sure nothing is left behind
- Communicating any inventory, customer, or operational needs to the Wilson’s team
What We’re Looking ForThe right person will be:
- Punctual, dependable, and comfortable working independently
- Friendly, confident, and comfortable starting conversations with customers
- Positive and professional, even during busy market mornings
- Available on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings
- Comfortable waking up early and beginning work around 5:30 a.m. on Saturdays
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, or light rain
- Able to kneel, bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable using a point-of-sale system
- Able to perform basic math and accurately handle customer transactions
- Detail-oriented and able to follow a checklist so products and supplies are not forgotten
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation with enough room to carry products and booth materials
- Consistent Friday afternoon and Saturday availability
- 21+ to try out our alcohol samples and serve them
Previous experience with Square's POS system, farmers’ markets, vendor booths, retail, food service, or customer service is preferred, but not required. We’re happy to train the right person.Pay: $20 per hour + tips. Hours: Approximately 8–10 hours per week on Saturdays.
