Responsibilities

  • Market Wilson’s Event Venue Des Moines to attract new clients.
  • Oversee all phases of the events, both private and ticketed, to ensure they run smoothly.
  • Ensure that all private event inquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all private event tours are scheduled and conducted in a timely manner and to quality standards.
  • Ensure the day-to-day contact with clients is conducted in a timely manner and to professional standards. This includes but is not limited to collecting signed contracts, collecting event insurance, answering questions, setting up meetings/consultations, finalizing table layouts, and finalizing timelines.
  • Ensure the day of operations for all events including but not limited to set up, staffing, helping clients, tearing down, and opening/closing.
  • Organize and execute all tastings for weddings, including individual and group tastings.
  • Ensure deposits, payments, final headcounts, event insurance, and all other information is received on time from clients.
  • Ensure all details, ticketing, and vendor coordination are organized and executed in a timely manner for ticketed events.
  • Work with the Banquet Chef to finalize menus and service plans for events.
  • Maintain general knowledge of local vendors for music, florals, desserts, and equipment rentals.
  • Develop and manage a capable team of event staff. This will include, but is not limited to, hiring, training, continued education, and disciplinary action.
  • Be knowledgeable of company policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Maintain a productive and enjoyable work environment for all employees.
  • Maintain event furniture (chairs, tables) and other event equipment as needed.
  • Organize and maintain a clean event space and storage areas. Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance occurs prior to each event.
  • Oversee the management and ordering of all dry goods, including linens, non-alcoholic beverages, and more.
  • Manage bar inventory to ensure orders are placed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain stock levels and order bar supplies on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure monthly bar inventory is completed and prices/costs are updated as needed.
  • Be able to explain in detail Wilson’s Ciderhouse & Venue’s concept and practices to employees and customers.
  • Understand all Wilson’s Event Venue policies and enforce them when necessary.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations regarding health, safety and labor requirements.

Qualifications

  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead, manage, and motivate a team.
  • At least two years experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Willing and able to work on your feet for long days where necessary, as certain types of events can require (please note that this will be offset by flexibility and/or shorter hours on the days when there are no events booked).
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
