Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic, hands-on, and detail-oriented Farm Manager to lead daily farm operations, oversee staff, and ensure the health and productivity of our crops and livestock at our Des Moines farm. This role offers a dynamic environment where hands-on leadership and technical expertise come together to sustain and enhance our thriving farm. The ideal candidate will be passionate about agriculture, animal husbandry, and sustainable farming practices, with a strong focus on safety, maintenance, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage seasonal production of apples, berries, pumpkins, flowers, and specialty crops
• Hire, train, and supervise seasonal staff
• Plant, cultivate, and harvest crops using sustainable practices
• Manage labor, materials, and inputs to maintain productivity and profitability
• Maintain orchards, fields, trails, and overall farm appearance
• Operate and maintain tractors and equipment
• Coordinate with retail, kitchen, and Iowa City farm teams
• Work alongside staff in daily field operations
• Manage livestock

Qualifications

• Strong horticulture or farm management experience
• Apple/temperate fruit production experience preferred
• Team leadership and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and dependable
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work in all weather
• Valid driver’s license
