Summary:

This position supports the Farm Market Manager in operation of the retail space and support of market staff. Being friendly, knowledgeable, respectful, helpful and efficient are the key qualities of every successful Shift Lead.

Responsibilities:

General

• Responsible for assuming direct leadership of farm market staff and operations when the manager is not present.
• Maintain a professional manner at all times with customers, vendors and staff.
• Maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm for providing exceptional customer service throughout the store.
• Ability to work independently and apply common-sense problem-solving to enhance the customer experience.
• A team player willing to assist with all tasks.
• Adhere to scheduled shifts and breaktimes and maintain punctuality.
• Assist with daily tasks, including opening and closing duties.
• Able to communicate during shifts with other leads/management; wear a walkie talkie to communicate important information.
• Demonstrate proficient cash handling skills.
• Assist the Farm Market Manager in maintaining labor and material costs by tracking inventory and cutting staff as needed (both in pizza shack and farm market store).
• Assist with training and professional development for all Farm Market staff.
• Manage and oversee shifties, ensuring that all employees adhere to this policy as well (one treat or drink per shift).
• Ensure Farm Market space, equipment, building, and grounds are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards (cleaning up messes, breaking down boxes, sweeping, and helping unload shipments when necessary, etc.)
• Ensure that your work is completed on time and to a high standard of quality.

• Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations

Foodservice

• Be knowledgeable about pizza offerings and ingredients, and be able to communicate and train pizza staff.
• Ensure that customers are greeted and assisted in a timely manner by the staff.
• Ensure all products made in the pizza shack are consistent and to quality standards.
• Maintain pizza shack product displays in a clean and appealing manner.
• Keep the pizza shack clean and orderly by cleaning up messes, breaking down boxes, sweeping, assisting with shipments as needed, and maintaining the surrounding grounds (including the mezzanine and picnic areas).
• Ensure that pizza shack staff complete their assigned tasks, including opening, shift changes, and closing duties.

Retail

• Greet customers and offer helpful information when needed.
• Have a thorough understanding of the happenings on the farm to be able to communicate to staff effectively.
• Demonstrate understanding of produce varieties and uses, information on bakery goods, and general knowledge of all other retail items.
• Assist the Farm Market manager in establishing and maintaining best in class customer experience and customer service.
• Maintain a positive attitude for providing exceptional customer service.
• Maintain a professional manner at all times with customers, vendors, and staff.
• Assist the Farm Market Manager in establishing and implementing standard operating procedures for the Farm Market.
• Ensure completion of tasks assigned to market staff, including opening, shift change, and closing duties, following up on all checklists to ensure its completion.
• Knowledgeable about the layout of the store, products offered, and where to find them.
• Assist in properly inputting orders and new products into Square.
• Ensure that all online orders are tracked and fulfilled.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Afternoon and evening availability Wednesday-Sunday
• A personal vehicle and valid driver's license
• Ability to work independently and practice common sense problem resolution to improve customer experience
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Must have excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills
• While performing the duties of this job, the Shift Lead is regularly required to stand for up to 8 hours and lift or move up to 50 lbs
